0.5mm pitch mezzanine connector is for smaller, lighter designs
Harwin has developed a 0.5mm pitch, compact mezzanine connector in response to market demand for smaller and lighter products. The Archer .5 was specifically designed for applications with limited available space and is available as a board, stack or PCB connector. Applications include compact control and monitoring equipment, embedded computing, sensor modules, camera / lidar units, and IoT connected devices.
These 0.5mm pitch connectors meet all technical specification requirements for modern industrial equipment, claimed Harwin. Materials comply with RoHS and REACH SVHC and are also halogen-free. They are available in a choice of pin counts, namely 30, 40, 80 and 100. Despite the tiny pitch the contacts still have a capacity of 0.5A each. The operating temperature range is -55 to +85 degrees C. The board-to-board stack height is just 8mm.
Archer .5 includes polarisation features to ensure correct orientation and alignment to prevent mis-mating. There is also shrouding to protect contacts from accidental damage. The connectors are supplied in tape and reel packaging and do not require a separate pick and place cap, making automated assembly easy, Harwin pointed out. The connectors are in-stock and ready to order from the company’s global distribution network now.
