32bit DAC IC strikes right note for hi-fi audio equipment

Engineered to extract and convert high resolution digital audio data to analogue audio signals, the BD34352EKV DAC IC and corresponding evaluation board, the BD34352EKV-EVK-001, have been introduced by Rohm Semiconductor to support the playback of high-resolution sound sources in high fidelity audio equipment.

The BD34352EKV is part of Rohm’s MUS-IC series and has been developed to meet growing demand for a DAC chip that can be used in a wider range of audio equipment that the company’s initial offering, the BD34301EKV MUS-IC.

The BD34352EKV is specially tuned to powerfully express the energy of sound sources while maintaining the natural flat sound characteristics of the company’s DAC chips. A digital filter delivers SNR of 126dB and THD+N of -112dB, making it particularly suitable for high-end audio equipment, says Rohm. In addition, the BD34352EKV features pin compatibility with the BD34301EKV and has the same customizable filter as the BD34301EKV. This enables different sound quality tunings for each audio device – reducing development load while contributing to the creation of ideal sound sought by audio manufacturers.

The DAC chip BD34352EKV is in mass production and the BD34352EKV-EVK-001 evaluation board is available now from online distributors Digi-Key, Mouser, and Farnell.

Rohm Semiconductor develops and manufactures a large product range from SiC Diodes and MOSFETs, analogue ICs such as gate drivers and power management ICs to power transistors and diodes to passive components.

Production takes place in manufacturing plants in Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and China. Lapis Technology (former OKI Semiconductor), SiCrystal and Kionix are companies of the Rohm Semiconductor Group. Rohm Semiconductor Europe has its head office near Dusseldorf serving the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa).
