40V MOSFET controls automotive BLDC motors
As demand for electric vehicles (EVs) increases, Magnachip Semiconductor believes there will be high demand for efficient, durable brushless DC motors (BLDCs). The company added that medium voltage MOSFETs are essential for BLDC motors to operate efficiently. It has therefore introduced a 40V MOSFET to control BLDC motors in automotive applications.
It is AEC-Q101-certified suitable for a variety of BLDC applications, such as electric oil pumps, engine cooling fans, electric power steering and battery cooling fans. It has already been used in an electric water pump in a new EV from an un-named manufacturer, confirmed Magnachip.
Magnachip designs and manufactures analogue and mixed-signal semiconductors for communications, the IoT, consumer, computing, industrial and automotive applications. The company provides a broad range of standard products to customers worldwide. It has more than 40 years of operating history, with engineering, design and manufacturing expertise. The company owns a portfolio of approximately 1,150 registered patents and pending applications.
