4:1 DC/DC converters dismiss airflow in battery powered equipment
Two DC/DC converters from TDK-Lambda are capable of providing full load in ambient temperatures from -40 to +85 degrees C with convection cooling.
The CCG1R5 (1.5W) and CCG3 (3W) both have 4:1 input ranges with outputs of 3.3, 5.0, 12, 15, ±12 or ±15V. The dual output versions can also be connected to provide a single 24 or 30V supply. All voltages and output power combinations can operate from either a 4.5 to 18V, 9 to 36V or 18 to 76V DC input.
Single output models can be adjusted using the trim terminal over a -5.0 to +10 per cent range for non-standard voltages. All models are protected against an over-current condition and the output can be inhibited using the remote on/off function. The input to output isolation voltage is 1,500V DC.
The CCG1R5 and CCG3 converters share a common plastic case and measure 15.7 x 10.4mm with a height of 11.5mm. There is the choice of through-hole or surface-mount terminations. Produced on an automated production line using x-ray inspection, TDK-Lambda said no encapsulation is used in order to avoid quality risks associated with silicone potting compounds during the customer reflow soldering process.
The full temperature range is -40 to +100 degrees C, with derating above +85 degrees C. Safety certification includes IEC / UL / CSA / EN 62368-1 with CE and UKCA marks to the Low Voltage and RoHS Directives.
TDK was established in 1935 to commercialise ferrite, a key material in electronic and magnetic products. Its portfolio consists of passive components such as ceramic, aluminium electrolytic and film capacitors, magnetics, high-frequency and piezo and protection devices as well as sensors and sensor systems such as temperature and pressure, magnetic and MEMS sensors.
These products are marketed under the product brands TDK, Epcos, InvenSense, Micronas, Tronics and TDK-Lambda. The company has a network of design and manufacturing locations and sales offices in Asia, Europe, and in North and South America.
TDK-Lambda specialises in power conversion products for industrial and medical equipment worldwide.
