Ametherm offers hermetically sealed glass-encapsulated thermistors
Designed for automotive and industrial applications, Ametherm offers the hermetically sealed DG series of glass-encapsulated thermistors for high-accuracy temperature sensing in automotive and industrial applications. They are now in stock at Digi-Key. They eliminate errors in resistance readings due to moisture penetration while offering high operating temperatures.
The compact, glass-encapsulated DG series provides designers with faster, more accurate, and less expensive alternatives to thermocouples and RTD probes, assures Ametherm. The DG series devices are free from limitations due to solder temperature, which enables them to operate at a wide operating temperature range of -40 to +300 degree C. Measuring only 1.5 mm in diameter, the devices are small enough for encapsulation in a variety of housings, such as ring lugs and hex nuts.
DG series thermistors are available in four resistance values at 25 degree C – 10, 40, 50 and 100kOhm. Resistance tolerances are down to ± two per cent, a dissipation constant of at least 0.5mW/degree C, and thermal time constant of up to 6.5 second. The devices provide temperature co-efficient of resistance of -3.9 per cent / degree C, -4.40 per cent / degree C, and -4.75 per cent / degree C. Beta values are 3500, 3950 and 4200 degree K. They have 32 AWG dumet wire leads.
Samples and production quantities of the devices are available now, with factory lead times of six to eight weeks.
Ametherm is headquartered in Carson City, Nevada. The company was founded in 1994 and specialises in thermistors for temperature sensing and inrush current limiting in industrial, automotive, AMS (avionics, military and space) and many other markets. Ametherm’s devices are some of the highest rated in the industry, claims the company, and are available in customised versions to meet the needs of specific applications.
