Analyser breaks new ground with coverage up to 110GHz

At European Microwave Week 2016, Keysight introduced the N9041B UXA X-Series signal analyser, claiming it is the first to provide frequency coverage to 110GHz with a maximum analysis bandwidth of up to 5GHz.

Its front-end circuitry achieves low loss and efficient mixing, says the company, for a displayed average noise level (DANL) down to -150dBm/Hz when characterising wideband modulated signals in the millimeter-wave band.

Challenges of designing for 5G, 802.11ad and automotive radar technology at these frequencies require integrated tools in design, simulation, measurement and analysis, says the company. It provides software for design and simulation to provide an efficient workflow that accelerates development of next-generation devices and systems. These tools were used to develop the analyser and are claimed to have enabled first-time-correct designs of its millimeter-wave circuits. The company also offers network analyzers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators and associated application software, for millimetre-wave measurement to fully characterise devices.

Current applications include development of 5G wireless communications, millimeter-wave backhaul, satellite communications, automotive radar, military radar and electronic warfare systems.
