Automotive-grade inductor operates at +180 degree C
Available in the 5050 case size, an automotive-grade IHLP low profile, high current inductor from Vishay Intertechnology has a continuous operating temperature rating of +180 degree C, for under-the-hood applications. The IHLP-5050FD-8A has a low, 6.4mm profile and is offered in a range of inductance values from 0.22 to 22microH.
Frequency range is up to 2MHz for energy storage inductors in DC/DC converters and up to the inductor’s SRF for filter applications. The inductor exceeds AEC-Q200 requirements to provide a space- and power-saving solution for DC/DC converters and high-current noise filters in high-temperature automotive systems, says the company. It is for use where high temperature operation is required, such as engine and transmission control units, diesel injection drivers, noise suppression for motors, windshield wipers, HID and LED lighting, heating and ventilation blowers.
High transient current spikes are handled without hard saturation. The inductor is packaged in a 100% lead (Pb)-free shielded, composite construction, claimed to reduce buzz noise to low levels. Operating temperature range is 55 to +180 degree C, with high resistance to thermal shock, moisture, mechanical shock, and vibration. The inductor is RoHS-compliant and halogen-free.
