Avnet Silica adds embedded video design kit

To help designers develop custom video applications including video analytics, machine vision, medical imaging, video surveillance and advanced driver assistance systems, Avnet Silica has announced the availability of the PicoZed Embedded Vision Kit.

It builds on the PicoZed System on Module, adding a video-specific carrier card and camera connector for add-on camera modules supported by the Python 1300 CMOS image sensor from ON Semiconductor.

The kit combines the hardware, software and IP components necessary to develop custom video applications for industrial, medical, automotive, consumer, aerospace/defense and security applications. It also includes a voucher for an SDSoC development environment from Xilinx, which provides a C/C++ ASSP-like programming experience. To accelerate development with Zynq SoCs and MPSoCs, it implements programmable logic-based software accelerators, enabling designers to leverage Xilinx, third-party or end-user platforms.

The kit also includes an FMC-HDMI-CAM FMC module, featuring HDMI input, HDMI output, and camera input. The Python 1300-C camera module includes the Python sensor, lens holder, lens and IR cut filter. A 2V power supply, two HDMI cables, a microUSB to USB cable, an Ethernet cable, an 8Gbyte microSD card and downloadable documentation and reference designs are also included.
