Board to board connector improves RF performance for multi-national telecomms
Claiming to set a new benchmark in terms of cost-effectiveness and performance in board to board connectors for multi-national telecommunications, the MFBX Evo has been released by Huber+Suhner.
It builds on the company’s MFBX range and is claimed to provide better RF performance achieving “excellent” return loss (RL) rates at higher frequencies (up to 6GHz).
The modular design of the MFBX Evo enables the connector piece parts to be used in different connections, which reduces resources and achieves economies of scale, said Huber+Suhner. Total cost of ownership (TCO) is reduced thanks to the “infinite number of design options” that are made possible by the high tolerance compensation between boards that hold “excellent” electrical values, the company continued. The MFBX Evo can handle an axial misalignment of ±0.8mm and radial misalignment of ±0.7mm at 17mm.
“When developing MFBX Evo, we examined every detail of the design to ensure cost efficiencies, increase modularity and optimised the assembly process,” said Daniel Troxler, product manager, at Huber+Suhner.
An automated assembly process generates quality products in high quantities in a short space of time, he continued. “This enables us to provide a solution with enhanced performance that meets our customers’ requirements for high volume applications.”
The automated assembly process leverages innovative production technologies such as robotic assembly, stamp-bending, and injection moulding. MFBX Evo uses the Huber+Suhner blind ‘mateability’ feature, for a safe, fast, reliable and secure connection between interfaces.
The MFBX Evo can be customised to meet individual customer requirements, including around specific design needs and various board-to-board distances.
Swiss company, Huber+Suhner develops and produces components and system products for electrical and optical connectivity. The company serves the three main markets industry, communication and transportation with applications from the three technologies of radio frequency, fibre optics and low frequency.
The company says Huber+Suhner products excel in performance, quality, reliability and long service lives even under the most demanding conditions. The company has a global production network, combined with subsidiaries and representatives in over 80 countries.
