Bourns adds automotive-grade surface mount fuses to SinglFuse family

Five automotive-grade surface mount technology fuses have been added to the SinglFuse family by Bourns.

The SF-1206SA-W, SF-2410FPA-W, SF-2410FA-W, SF-0603HIA-M and SF-1206HIA-M fuses comply with Bourns’ internal AEC-Q200 equivalent test procedures to ensure rugged performance in harsh environments.

The SF-1206SA-W, SF-2410FA-W, and SF-2410FPA-W SinglFuse models feature slow blow, fast-acting, and fast-acting precision fusing speeds in small form factor EIA1206 and 2410 packages. They use Bourns’ PCB wire core design to deliver enhanced voltage and current handling capabilities, precise hot spot control along the fuse element, improved arcing suppression and inrush current withstand capability, claims Bourns. They also have structural integrity when blown compared to older ceramic tube designs.

The SF-0603HIA-M and SF-1206HIA-M fuses were developed using Bourns’ multi-layer ceramic design that enables enhanced voltage and current handling capabilities. They are offered in small 1206 and 0603 package sizes, they feature high inrush current withstand capabilities and time-lag fusing speeds.

The SinglFuse SMD fuses address the growing need for effective over-current protection in systems and electronic applications where integration and sensitivity mean that over-current threats have the potential to inflict damage, reduce a product’s lifespan and affect the efficiency of a device. Circuit protection is also important for emerging and next-generation applications such as IoT and smart sensor-based designs. These connected applications are particularly vulnerable to over-current events that can cause reduced reliability and failure to one or more devices in the network.

The SF-1206SA-W, SF-2410FPA-W, SF-2410FA-W, SF-0603HIA-M and SF-1206HIA-M models are UL 248-14 listed, RoHS-compliant and halogen free and are available now.

Bourns manufactures and supplies position and speed sensors, circuit protection solutions, magnetic components, microelectronic modules, panel controls and resistive products.

The company is headquartered in Riverside, California, USA, and serves a broad range of markets, including automotive, industrial, consumer, communications, medical (low/medium risk) and audio markets.
