CDM offers semi-custom cable assemblies for low-smoke, zero-halogen performance
Semi-custom assemblies engineered for RF, Ethernet (RJ45) and NEMA power applications make up the SAFER (Smoke and Fire Exposure Reducing) cable assembly series. CDM Electronics offers the low-smoke zero-halogen (LSZH) SAFER cable assemblies, which are intended for spaces where large amounts of cables are in close proximity to people or sensitive electronic equipment. They are also designed for anywhere PVC’s combustive toxicity is restricted by fire code.
The low-smoke properties of the SAFER cable assemblies reduce the amount and density of smoke, making it easier for occupants to exit a space in the event of a fire. Simultaneously, the zero-halogen properties reduce toxicity and corrosivity that can harm buildings, electronic equipment, and metallic structures. The SAFER series is typically used in mass transit, airports, commercial aircraft, submarines and ships, telecommunications/central office facilities, museums, and designated historic structures.
The semi-custom SAFER cable assemblies are designed to help OEMs accelerate time-to-market while minimising the costs associated with designing a fully custom assembly, says CDM. They are provided as standard in the most popular configurations, in lengths ranging from one to 25feet. The cable assemblies are over-moulded for added safety and durability. The assemblies meet all applicable CMR, UL/NEC, CSA and NFPA safety requirements, and may be ordered in prototype and production quantities.
Fully customised SAFER cable assemblies are also offered.
CDM’s SAFER RF jumper assemblies are manufactured using either Times Microwave LMR FR low-smoke, zero-halogen low loss cable, or Times Microwave Mil-Spec LLSB low-smoke zero-halogen flexible low loss cable, which is engineered for aerospace and shipboard applications.
SAFER jumper assemblies are supplied with a selection of Times Microwave standard connector interfaces, including BNC, N-Type, SMA, and TNC. SAFER Ethernet assemblies are pre-configured with straight, left-facing or right-facing RJ45 connectors to meet applications’ safety and space parameters. SAFER power assemblies are terminated by standard NEMA 5-15 and an IEC 60320 C13 receptacles suitable for nearly all computers and peripheral devices.
The semi-custom SAFER Series is made in CDM’s ISO 9001:2008 and UL Listed facility by J-STD-001 and IPC-620 certified operators. Most assemblies are RoHS-Compliant.
