Class II encapsulated power supplies operate in high ambient temperatures
Single output 5.0 to 25W encapsulated power supplies in the KWS-A series, operate in ambient temperatures of up to 85 degree C. The Class II input means that they do not require earth ground connection, making them suitable for use in a range of process control, broadcast, test and measurement and industrial equipment.
The board-mount supply series comprises four power levels – 5.0, 10, 15 and 25W. They are housed in three compact package sizes. The 5.0 and 10W units measure 38.1 x 25.4 x 21.5mm, the 15W measures 50.8 x 25.4 x 24mm and the 25W models measure 63.5 x 25.4 x 29mm. Four popular output voltages are available, 5.0, 12, 15 and 24V, and all operate from an input voltage of 85 to 265V AC, 47 to 440Hz.
The supplies can start up at -40 degree C and operate without forced air cooling in ambient temperatures of up to +85 degree C, and at full load over a -10 to +55 degree C range (+45 degree C for the 5V output 10W to 25W models). Off-load power draw is less than 0.5W and full load efficiencies are up to 88%. As no external fusing or electrolytic capacitors are required, oard design is made simpler and space is minimised, says the company.
The series is certified to UL/CSA/IEC/EN 60950-1 and the CE mark for the Low Voltage and RoHS2 Directives. All models comply with EN 55011-A conducted and radiated emissions (class B with the addition of a small X-capacitor) and EN 61000-4-2, -6-2 immunity standards.
