Compact varistors have 14mm disk diameter

Covering a wide operating range of 175 to 625V RMS, the Epcos B72314S2 series (AdvanceD S14 Compact) of leaded disk varistors has a maximum surge current capability of a single pulse current (8/20 microseconds) is up to 6,000A. They also offer a multiple surge current capability of 3,000A at 8/20 microseconds according to UL 1449, 4th edition, type 5 listed.

The disk diameters range from 13 to 14mm, which is a reduction of approximately 3.0mm compared to AdvanceD S14 series. The coating of the disks consists of a flame-retardant synthetic resin according to UL 94 V-0. The company’s SIOV metal oxide varistors are certified according to UL, CSA, VDE and IEC. The compact dimensions design and electrical characteristics mean that the AdvanceD S14 Compact varistors can be used in space saving designs for the target applications such as household appliances, smart meters and inverters.
