Controller board saves space in TFT displays
Minimum space requirements and wide temperature range characterise the PrismaMINI-HDMI-DP controller board from Distec.
Operating range is -20 to +80°C, suitable for industrial applications. The board is based on the scaler chip, Chandler, from STMicroelectronics. The board supports 3.3, 5.0 and 12V Vcc panels, and is HDCP (High Definition Copy Protocol)-capable and provides an HDMI 1.4 and DisplayPort input. Other interfaces are a single and dual LVDS output with a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1200. The direct digital control (DDC) interface controls the most important image parameters, which makes an onscreen display keypad redundant. The company adds that the design of the new PrismaMINI is optimised for supporting TFTs with LED backlighting.
In addition to the standard board, the company also manufactures project-specific boards, co-operating with developers to determine the shape of the circuit board, which functionalities are implemented, define the I/O interfaces, for example. The PrismaMINI-HDMI-DP is also available as a module for the customer’s baseboard.
Input interfaces for customisation have a maximum input resolution of 1920 x 1200 at 60Hz, for example, HDMI/DVI, DisplayPort, VGA as well as serial interfaces (UART, RS-232) or USB for remote onscreen display control. The onscreen display menu is available in a choice of language/character sets including Arabic, Chinese, French, Greek, Japanese, Cyrillic, Turkish. There are also colour and/or gamma calibrations, sensors via I²C (e.g. temperature, brightness) and Bluetooth modules from Hosiden. By using other scalers or processors, the company can also implement additional individual features such as SDI, ARM, 4k or UHD.
