Converter modules increase transient protection
Two DCMs DC/DC converter modules are now available from Vicor Power in a VIA package.
The ruggedised modular DC/DC converter operates from an unregulated, wide range input, to generate an isolated and regulated high efficiency output, with higher power densities than competitive products, says the company.
The new DCMs are claimed to offer power system engineers a better BRICK, the company’s DC/DC converter family which uses the advantages of VI Chip technology in a brick-like module that incorporates thermal proficiency, robustness, and through-hole pin connection style. According to the company, they offer enhanced functionality of EMI filtering, transient protection, in-rush current limiting, and a secondary-referenced control interface for trim, enable and remote-sensing. Configurations are available for both on-board mounting and for chassis mounting.
The new modules are the 300V 3174 VIA package, with an input range of 200 to 420V and 500W output, and the 48V nominal input 3414 VIA package, with an input range of 36 to 75V and output of 320W. The former measures 3.75 x 1.40 x 0.37inch and the latter has dimensions of 3.38 x 1.40 x 0.37inch.
Target applications are industrial and communications.
