Cool-Power ZVS Buck Regulator extends Vicor’s 48V Direct to PoL family
Vicor has added the PI3526-00-LGIZ to its Cool-Power ZVS buck regulator portfolio. The PI352x series is a higher current offering compared with the earlier PI354x portfolio from Vicor. This enables scalable power options for 48V Direct to point of load (PoL) applications.
The PI3526-00-LGIZ is a 12V output regulator, supplying up to 18A. It is packaged in a 10 x 14mm LGA system in package (SiP).
Devices in Vicor’s existing 48V Cool-Power ZVS buck regulator family deliver twice the power of Vicor’s PI354x regulators, yet use only a 40 per cent larger package.
The PI3526-00-LGIZ requires only an output inductor and minimal passives for a cost-effective design that consumes less than 740mm2 of printed circuit board (PCB) real estate. The P1352x can be paralleled in combinations of up to three regulators, and can be scaled to support applications with even higher load currents.
The PI352x family addresses the growing need for 48V Direct to PoL solutions in many applications including lighting, communications, automotive equipment, and data centre applications. The Cool-Power ZVS regulators are focused on high power density and high efficiency, says Vicor, while being simple to use.
The P13525-00-LGIZ is available in a 10 x 14mm package, with input of 30 to 60V and nominal output of 5.0V and supplying up to 20A. The P13526-00-LGIZ is also available in a package measuring 10 x 14mm, with the same input range and 12V nominal output voltage and supplying up to 18A. Vicor has also announced that it will soon release a third device, the P13523-00-LGIZ, with 3.3V output and 22A.
