DC/DC converters have medical safety approval
Providing a reinforced insulation system of 4,000V AC and insulation resistance of
10GOhm, the ASA 6W-M series of 6W DC/DC converters is rated for 2X means of operator protection (MOOP) and has medical safety certification to UL/cUL/EN/ IEC 60601-1 3rd Edition.
Artesyn Embedded Technologies believes that they provide OEMs with a cost-effective design for applications in industrial and medical instrumentation requiring a certified compliance with the stringent industrial or medical safety standards.
The family has a calculated MTBF of one million hours.
They are encapsulated in a compact 31.8 x 20.3mm (1.25 x 0.8inch) industry-standard package and offer up to 80% efficiency. Models cover a wide input voltage range; nominally 12, 24 or 48V (9.0 to 18, 18 to 36 and 36 to 75V DC) available in single or dual output variants.
The series consists of 5.0 and 12V single output models together with ±12 and ±15V dual output models. The modules can operate from -40 to +75°C with full power available to 55°C and power derating at higher temperatures. They also have low leakage current, required in medical applications, protection from overload and over-voltage, and EMI characteristics that can meet EN 55022, class A and FCC level A.
The compact converters are RoHS compliant and carry a three-year product warranty.
