DC/DC converters provide 9W from a SIP-8 package

Claimed to be the world’s first SIP-8 packaged DC/DC converter series to provide an isolated and regulated output voltage with up to 9W of output power, the Tracopower TMR9 series is available from PowerSolve.

Models are available with 2:1 (TMR 9) or 4:1 (TMR 9WI) input ranges and cover nominal inputs of 12, 24 and 48V DC. Single and dual output voltages of 3.3 to 24V DC are available within the range.

The converters feature a 50 per cent higher power density compared to conventional SIP converters, claims the company, and can reliably operate up to 60 degree C environment temperature at full load or up to 85 degree C with a 50 per cent load de-rating.

The converters are designed using a special, flat switching transistor with an extended dissipation surface. This, together with an extra thermo-conducting potting compound, allows the heat to be efficiently transferred to the metal casing and dissipated to the environment.

The converters features 1,500V DC I/O isolation voltage, external on/off, short current protection and EMC according EN55022 class A.
