Development chassis mixes VME64x and OpenVPX backplanes
Embedded computing and enclosure specialist, Pixus Technologies, has developed an open frame enclosure with multiple configuration options using VME and OpenVPX backplanes.
The company said it has an array of standard VITA 65 profile and power and ground only (unrouted) OpenVPX backplanes available, in order to offer a wide range of solutions. Coupled with various standard VME/VME64x backplanes, the company can provide a mix of slot options in both open standard architectures. Pixus also supports SOSA (Sensor Open Systems Architecture) aligned configurations as well as CompactPCI and cPCI Serial options.
The versatile open frame enclosure comes with a modular power supply in versions up to 600W and up to 1200W, with an universal AC input. Card guides are available for both air-cooled and conduction-cooled boards with interchangeable slots.
Pixus offers tailored open standard backplane and enclosure options which are suitable for a range of environments from lab / data centre to MIL / rugged formats. The company also provides specialty accessories such as chassis managers, alarm cards, serial MUX boards power interface boards.
Pixus Technologies leverages over 20 years of standard products in electronics packaging. Founded in 2009 by senior management from Kaparel, a Rittal company, Pixus Technologies’ embedded backplanes and systems are focused primarily on ATCA, OpenVPX, MicroTCA, and custom designs.

In May 2011, Pixus Technologies became the sole authorised North and South American supplier of the electronic packaging products previously offered by Kaparel and Rittal.
