Digi-Key teams with CUI to offer DoE Level VI and CoC Tier 2 power supplies
Components distributor, Digi-Key, has teamed up with power manufacturer, CUI, to offer customers a portfolio of DoE Level VI and CoC Tier 2-compliant external AC-DC adapters.
The move meets the 2014 revision of the US Department of Energy (DoE) EISA 2007 external power supply (EPS) efficiency standard. The revision (DoE Level VI) increases the minimum efficiency requirements and expands the range of products applicable under the new standard. In Europe, the EU’s proposed CoC Tier 2 directive, is even more stringent, and is set to become mandatory Ecodesign rules in January 2018.
“Digi-Key continues to be committed to supporting our engineers and customers as they strive to keep their designs compliant with the latest regulations,” said Tom Busher, VP, Global I P & E at Digi-Key. He adds: “CUI has taken a leadership role in addressing the increasing concerns for no-load and active mode power consumption of external adapters.” The companies worked closely to develop a variety of efficiency standard resources that will help keep customers informed and get compliant products to market faster, he said.
CoC Tier 2 and DoE Level VI resources, including a Product Training (PTM) are available on the company website.
