Dual inductors are compact for SEPICs and transformers

Dual inductors available from Epcos now include the B82477D6 series. The seven devices cover an inductance range from 2.0 x 3.9 to 2.0 x 47 microH and are designed for maximum rated currents from 2.83 to 7.05A.

The inductors are certified to AEC-Q200 and compatible with RoHS. They have high saturation currents of up to 16.1A. The magnetically shielded inductors have dimensions of just 12.5 x 12.5 x 10.5mm3 and are designed for a wide temperature range of -55 to +150 degrees C. Depending on the type, the inductors offer very high coupling factors of the two windings from 97 to 99 per cent, reports TDK.

The isolation voltage between the two windings is above 500V.

The fields of application of dual inductors are diverse. They can be used as coupled inductors in single-ended primary inductance converters (SEPICs) or 1:1 transformers in flyback topologies. They can also be used as a common-mode inductor in power supply lines.

TDK is an electronics company based in Tokyo, Japan. It was established in 1935 to commercialise ferrite, a key material in electronic and magnetic products. TDK’s portfolio features passive components such as ceramic, aluminium electrolytic and film capacitors, as well as magnetics, high-frequency, and piezo and protection devices.

The company also supplies sensors and sensor systems such as temperature and pressure, magnetic and MEMS sensors. It also provides power supplies and energy devices and magnetic heads marketed under the product brands TDK, Epcos, InvenSense, Micronas, Tronics and TDK-Lambda.

TDK focuses on demanding markets in the areas of information and communication technology and automotive, industrial and consumer electronics.

The company has a network of design and manufacturing locations and sales offices in Asia, Europe, and in North and South America.
