Encapsulated AC/DC power modules are for medical use

The TMM Series of fully encapsulated 24 to 60W AC/DC power supply modules from Powersolve have been designed specifically for medical applications. The company points out, however, that the EMI/EMC characteristics and safety approval package also make them suitable for industrial and transportation systems.

The modules provide between 20 and 60W. They have a reinforced/double I/O isolation system in accordance with the latest medical safety standards 60601-3 3rd edition for 2 x MOPP (Means Of Patient Protection). Models are available for chassis and PCB mounting.

High efficiency levels enable an operating temperature range of -40 to +65°C; with some models it goes up to 80°C with 50% load derating. Protection against over-temperature over-load and short-circuit is standard.

Using the 60W unit as an example, nominal input voltage can be 85 to 240V AC or 120 to 370V DC and output voltages between 5.1 and 48V DC depending on the model. With a no-load power consumption of less than 0.5W, the unit complies with the recent ErP (Energy Related Product) directive.
