Ethernet switch saves space in industrial networks

Eight ports earns the unmanaged Ethernet switch from Hirschmann the name Octopus 8TX-EEC. It joins the company’s switch family and is compact. It enables reliable data transmission and increases IT security through its configurable feature set, says the company.

It was designed to offer customers a simple, cost-effective device that provides reliable, secure data transmission under extreme conditions. The IP67/65 switch secures the data network through configurable features typically found on expensive managed switches, like Quality of Service (QoS) or broadcast limits.

For smaller industrial networks, the switch saves space, while its ruggedised metal housing allows it to operate in transportation, general manufacturing, machine building and automotive applications.

The IP67/65 rating allows the switch to be mounted anywhere, without the need for protective cabinets. The switch can also withstand harsh conditions, including dirt, dust, vibrations, and water, as well as extreme temperatures. It meets application-specific standards and certifications for use in the transportation industry, specifically for use onboard road vehicles, metros and trains.
