FFC and FPC connectors increase manufacturing efficiencies
Flat flexible cable (FFC) and flat printed circuit (FPC) connectors have been refreshed by GCT to accommodate a variety of applications at a competitive price point, says the company. The FFC and FPC connector range is available in a choice of 0.3, 0.5 and 1.0mm pitches, horizontal and vertical orientation and a selection of locking styles. All are zero insertion force (ZIF) designs and connectors accept FFC in 0.5 and 1.0mm pitches, which can be supplied by GCT. A locking actuator holds the cable in place, which is beneficial in applications with shock and high vibration.
Special features are designed for cable with retention ears for maximum strengthen, providing an extra level of security and peace of mind when mated.
FFC and FPC connectors offer a one piece component solution, negating the need for male and female connectors and labour intensive cable assemblies. These benefits contribute to a lower cost and easier procurement, claims GCT. The FFC/FPC connector range offers a low a profile height and small PCB footprint and is light in weight for compact designs where space may be limited. FFC/FPC connectors are also simply terminated by operators.
