Flying probe test systems are designed for EV lithium-ion battery packs

Lithium-ion battery packs can be tested using the Pilot BT flying probe test system by Seica. The flying probe test systems is designed to test full-size EV lithium-ion battery packs and has the capability to test the interconnections (bonding resistance) of prismatic and cylindrical cells present in the battery module.

EV battery manufacturers produce many types of battery families with different physical shapes and electrical characteristics, so the Pilot BT has a maximum testing area of 1050 x 865mm (41.33 x 34.05 inch) which is designed to accommodate all types of battery packs on a fully customisable conveyor system.

The system features up to four independent test heads driven by synchronised brushless motors (XYZ), to provide a high level dynamic response. Each one of the four heads features a mini fixture that can test up to four individual cells in a single movement in either an X or Y axis orientation.

Founded in 1986, Seica SpA supplies automatic test equipment and selective soldering systems, with an installed base of more than 2,500 systems on four different continents. Seica offers a line of test solutions, including bed of nails and flying probe testers able to perform MDA, in-circuit and full functional tests of assembled electronic boards and modules and printed circuit boards, as well as laser-based selective soldering systems for electronic board manufacturing and a full range of test application services.

The company headquarters are located in Strambino, Italy, with direct offices in USA, Germany, China, Mexico and France, supported by a vast distribution network covering the rest of the world.

Since 2014, Seica SpA is supported by a sister company Seica Automation, located in Milan, and producing board handling systems and other automation equipments for the electronic manufacturing industry
