Foremost Electronics adds Schroff’s nVent rail rack
Electromechanical component and sub-system specialist distributor, Foremost Electronics has added Schroff’s latest on-board rack for railway applications. The nVent on-board rack is the company’s durable frame to support 19-inch electronics in transportation systems.
The on-board rack is designed to install electronic systems on trains, lorries, ships and other vehicles in up to 19 inch (84 TE) and 36 TE enclosures, where a compact and lightweight rack design is required for a secure, durable and reliable mounting, said Foremost.
The on board rack is manufactured from corrosion resistant stainless steel and welded to meet AWS and EN 15085 (CL2), nVent on board racks are designed to withstand the tough environmental conditions in vehicles and deal with permanent vibration, shock, high temperatures and humidity.
The on board racks are available in heights of three, six or 9U for one, two, or three SNCF sub-racks (NF F 61-005 and NF F 60-002), each supported by a set of slide rails. The rear panel is designed to accept standard connectors. The crossbars can be custom coded with holes positioned to accept coding pins or SNCF sub-racks.
The nVent Schroff on board rack has a modular design and can be floor or ceiling mounted. Multiple racks can be stacked on top of each other or side-by-side.
The enclosure is open on all sides with a crossbar which can be custom coded to only accept correct sub-racks and features an integrated cable bar which simplifies organizing cables with cable ties and provides additional stability.
The welded stainless steel rack design is durable, corrosion and vibration resistant. The compact size and narrow width facilitate the installation of electronic equipment in locations where space is limited, such as train lockers or under seats and is ideal for both new installations and retrofit applications.
The rack design is rigid but open on all sides offering a light weight coupled with energy efficiency. Installed electronics are easily accessible and the rack is designed for optimum ventilation and heat dissipation. A side-by-side ganging and stacking kit is available for larger systems.
The nVent Schroff on board rack is available in 3U x 36 HP, 6U x 36 HP and 9U x 36 HP sizes as standard, manufactured per welding certification EN 15085 (CL2) and designed to meet EN 61373.
