Four DC/DC converters extend the VIA package family
Four DC/DC converters in rugged, chassis-mountable versions extend Vicor’s DCM family. The additions add two 270V and two 28V nominal products to the family.
DCMs are commonly used in industrial and process control markets, distributed power, ATE, communications, defence/aerospace, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and transportation.
The DCM in a VIA package is an isolated, regulated DC/DC converter, operating from an unregulated, wide range input to generate an isolated and regulated output. With its high frequency zero-voltage switching (ZVS) topology, the DCM converter delivers high efficiency across the input line range. The DCM provides tight output voltage regulation and offers a secondary-referenced control interface for trim, enable, and remote sense operation. DCM converters and downstream DC/DC products support efficient power distribution from a variety of unregulated power sources to the PoL.
According to the company, the family provides the highest densities in a smaller footprint than competing models.
The 270V nominal voltage models are available with 500W at 12V ouput and 28V output. The two models added to the 28V nominal voltage options deliver 180W at 5V and 320W at 15V output.
