GBTs boast improved high speed switching applications

Optimised to deliver high-speed switching, the 650V H2 series of IGBTs improves fast turn-off switching says Alpha and Omega Semiconductor. The IGBTs are suitable for switching in power factor correction, high switching converters and welding machines.

The first device in the series is the AOK40B65H2AL. It has been designed with the patent-pending AlphaIGBT technology and features industry-leading fast turn-off and offers low VCE(SAT) at 2.05V, claims the company, which reduces power loss incurred during conduction and switching. The 650V minimum BVCES rating and solid BV performance allow for a larger safety margin to prevent sudden damage from voltage transients. Additionally, low turn-on di/dt and high turn-on dv/dt switching performance enable lower EMI design, says the company.

Due to higher efficiency, system cost reduction and power quality regulation requirements, the selection of the IGBT is crucial to achieving the overall system efficiency robustness, EMI management and long-term reliability, maintains the company. The 650V H2-series offers designers the combination for higher efficiency, high ruggedness and EMI performance.

The AOK40B65H2AL is immediately available in production quantities with a lead-time of 12 to 14 weeks.
