Incremental encoder has detent options for customer configurability

Characterised by a long rotational life, the Bourns Model PEC11J encoders have an IP 40 rating and 100,000 cycle rotational life. They also have switch options that allow adaptation to application-specific needs and environments, added the company.

The PEC11J series encoder has been introduced as a drop-in replacement for the discontinued ALPS Model EC11J Series. This modified configuration of the Bourns PEC11S series should enable customers to continue to support existing applications with no changes to mechanical or electrical layouts. Testing is recommended to ensure compatibility with each customer’s specific application. Samples are available on request for testing.

The PEC11J series encoders have an operating temperature range of -10 to +70 degrees C and have a rugged, compact surface mount design. The encoders also offer an optional momentary switch function with standard and high actuation force capabilities that mean they can be adapted to meet application-specific needs and different environments.

The encoders are therefore suitable for a wide range of applications including professional audio equipment and lighting consoles, white goods, low to medium risk medical and diagnostic equipment, test and measurement equipment and industrial automation controls.

The PEC11J incremental encoders are available now and are RoHS compliant.

Bourns manufactures and supplies position and speed sensors, circuit protection solutions, magnetic components, microelectronic modules, panel controls and resistive products. Headquartered in Riverside, California, USA, Bourns serves a broad range of markets, including automotive, industrial, consumer, communications, medical (low/medium risk), audio and various other market segments.
