Inductors for automotive applications set new benchmarks, says Murata
Murata has released the DFE32CAH_R0 series of metal power inductors which are suitable for high-temperature applications of up to 150 degrees C.
They are intended for use in DC/DC converters and power management circuitry for automotive applications and are supplied in 1210 inch size (3.2 x 2.5mm) metal cores.
The DFE32CAH_R0 inductors are suitable for in-vehicle applications from infotainment systems to the powertrain and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), advises Murata. To meet the automotive industry’s demands for high currents and small system designs, the DFE32CAH_R0 series delivers a DC superimposed current rating (Isat) of up to 8.7A with an inductance as low as 0.47 microH in a 1210 format.
The DFE32CAHR47MR0L has a 0.47 microH inductance value, with an RDC of 14mOhm (max) and an Isat of 8.7A (max). The DFE32CAHR68MR0 delivers 0.68 microH inductance, 17mOhm (max) RDC and 7.0A (max) Isat. The 1.0 microH-rated DFE32CAH1R0MR0L and 1.5 microH-rated DFE32CAH1R5MR0L have respective RDC values of 22mOhm and 30mOhm, with Isat figures of 5.9 and 4.8A. The DFE32CAH2R2MR0L / DFE32CAH3R3MR0L / DFE32CAH4R7MR0L inductors have respective inductance ratings of 2.2, 3.3 and 4.7 microH with RDC figures of 43, 67 and 101 mOhm and Isat values of 4.0, 3.3 and 2.8A.
Tomohiro Yao, general manager of marketing and promotion for the EMI division at Murata, explains the value of the new additions. “We have succeeded in delivering a series of small metal power inductors that have a highly reliable design for a more diverse range of automotive applications, including the powertrain and ADAS, that require support for temperatures up to 150 degrees C and demand large current flows.”
