Infineon introduces OptiMOS 7 40V MOSFET family for automotive applications

The latest generation of power MOSFETs released by Infineon is the OptiMOS 7 40V family. The MOSFETs improve on-state resistance, switching efficiency as well as design robustness in automotive applications, said the company.

The MOSFETs are available in a variety of lead-free and robust power packages. The family combines 300mm thin-wafer technology with innovative packaging for small packages suitable for all standard and future automotive 40V MOSFET applications, said Infineon. Typical applications include electric power steering, braking systems and disconnect switches. They are also suitable for battery management, e-fuse boxes as well as DC/DC and BLDC drives, added the company. in a wide range of variants.

According to Axel Hahn, senior vice president automotive MOSFET at Infineon, the OptiMOS 7 40V MOSFET family offers efficiency and power in a compact design. “The devices offer the highest power density and energy efficiency with the industry’s lowest on-state resistance,” he said.

The OptiMOS devices offer reduced switching losses, improved SOA (safe operating area robustness and high avalanche current capability, said Infineon, making them suitable for tomorrow’s high efficiency automotive applications. The devices are available in a variety of rugged automotive power packages, including TDSON-8, HSOF-5, HSOF-8 and topside cooling.

The OptiMOS 40V family is in production, first products can be ordered in August 2023.
