InnoSwitch3-AQ supports extended EV input range
Greater headroom for 400 and 800V electric vehicle (EV) inverter, battery management and climate control applications is provided with the InnoSwitch3-AQ integrarated flyback switcher ICs, says Power Integrations. The series supports EV designs with expanded 30 to 1,200V input range.
The InnoSwitch3-AQ family of devices combine a MOSFET, primary and secondary controllers with Fluxlink reinforced isolated feedback into a single IC. The latest family members feature a 900V primary MOSFET, which allows for safe and reliable operation during system voltage transients while reducing the number and cost of input filter components. The increased BV rating enables accurate and reliable output voltage regulation from 30 to 700V BUS in standalone form, says Power Integrations. It may be configured for 1,200V BUS applications when used with the optional StackFET circuitry.
The Fluxlink feedback provides both precision and longevity, continues Power Integrations, eliminating the reliability/performance trade off that is implicit in opto and winding-sensed alternatives.
InnoSwitch3-AQ switcher ICs achieve up to 90 per cent efficiency across the load range and consume less than 15mW under no-load conditions. They operate down to 30V DC, enabling automotive designers to use the part in emergency power supply applications.
