Integrated sensor is optimised for large scale, cost-sensitive applications
Expanding the Bluetooth module portfolio, Telit has added the BlueMod+S42M integrated sensor module. It is, says the company, optimised for mass-deployment, cost-sensitive applications for the rapidly growing Bluetooth low energy-dependent segments in the internet of things (IoT)
Suitable for large scale projects, the BlueMod+S42M can be used across a range of industrial and consumer applications areas. The embedded sensors are necessary for high-value, fragile asset tracking, and time- or temperature-sensitive applications such as cold chain monitoring in the pharmaceutical and agriculture industries.
A report released by IndustryARC Analysis, forecasts Bluetooth low energy-enabled devices shipments to experience a CAGR of 29 per cent until 2020, to reach 8.4 billion units by that date.
Offering low power consumption, the BlueMod+S42M is a Bluetooth v4.2 qualified module and offers configurable device information service (DIS) and LE secure connections and data length extension.
Other features are over-the-air updates with sample code for iOS and Android as well as compatibility with WeChat Air Sync protocol.
Telit supports the BlueMod+S42M with access to comprehensive development and integration tools, including evaluation and development kits.
Telit’s focus is the enablement of the IoT. It claims to offer the industry’s broadest portfolio of integrated products, platforms and services to support and enable IoT deployments from things to apps. Its portfolio of modules addresses all cellular communication technologies, GNSS and short-to-long range wireless applications. Its IoT connectivity plans and IoT platform services help reduce the risks, time to market, complexity and costs associated with deploying and providing IoT services across industries and vertical markets.
