Load cell sensor is in a sub-miniature package
Dimensions of 4.0 x 5.0mm make the Nano load cell sensor, the smallest of its kind, says Futek. The sub-miniature package is also claimed to have the smallest tension and compression force measurement of any micro-miniature in-line load cell.
The small form factor opens up a world of possibilities for industries such as advanced automation, semiconductor, electronics assembly, robot gripping force measurement, and robotic surgery, where force sensor size is critical.
The Nano force sensor has M1 threaded double-sided mounting and a through-hole design which allows for flexible slide on, weld-on over the tube, wire, or shaft integration options. The side load compensated 1,000 Ohm full bridge instrumentation is housed in a laser-welded construction with patent-pending non-active interconnect packaging for protection. The sensor is accurate in five and 10lb (2.27 and 4.5kg) capacities with low deflection, and high natural frequency response up to 98KHz.
Futek also provides force sensors as small as 3.0 x 4.0mm with force measurement capabilities up to 50lb (45kg) for a variety of applications including IP67 and autoclavable sensors for the medical industry. The miniature load cell can be used for surgical robotics and laparoscopic tools and the Nano force transducewr is suitable for haptics force feedback.
