Low-cost 60W power supplies from XP Power are for IoT and robotics

Certified to a range of safety and EMC approvals, the VCB60 series of  60W low profile AC/DC power supplies are for use in a variety of cost-sensitive applications, says XP Power. They can be used in information technology equipment (ITE), industrial electronics, domestic, the IoT and robotics.

The modules operate from 90 to 305V AC, ensuring they can be used for factory or roadside equipment running four-wire 480V AC three-phase (277V AC nominal), or single-phase (110 / 230V AC nominal) systems. The series comprises eight devices with regulated output voltages from 5.0 to 54.0V DC covering power levels up to 60W. The convection-cooled devices do not require forced air so operation is silent, making them suitable for noise-sensitive applications such as audio / video (AV) applications, offices or domestic settings.

OVC III (overvoltage category III) approval means that VCB60 supplies can be used to build wiring upstream of wall sockets that require safety-approved products. The approval removes any need for additional filtering and safety approvals saving space, time and cost, advises XP Power.

The VCB60 series carries multiple approvals including EN55024, EN55035, EN61000-4 for EMC immunity and EN55032, EN55014, and EN61000-3 for EMC emissions. Safety approvals include IEC60950, IEC62368 and IEC60355. These approvals ensures that the units can be safely used in a range of ITE, industrial and domestic applications and ensuring they meet noise requirements without external filtering.

Efficiency is 90 per cent, and the minimal heat waste reduces thermal management requirements. It also decreases operating temperature to enhance system reliability. There is also short circuit, over-voltage and overload protection.

The VCB60 power supplies operate at -10 to +60 degrees C and offer full power at temperatures up to +50 degrees C.

Supplies are covered with a three-year warranty and are available from Digi-Key, Distrelec, Farnell, Mouser, RS Components, approved regional distributors, or direct from XP Power.
