M12 connector meets 10GbE applications
Field-mountable in design, the Y-Circ M Cat.6A field assembly connector has been added to the Y-Circ M12 portfolio available from Yamaichi Electronics. The field-mountable connector is suitable for 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) applications.
The latest Y-Circ M connector is suitable for use in typical Cat.6A applications, for example in the communications cabling of automation control systems. The field-assembled connector is used over moulded M12 cable assemblies, for example, when the cable has to be pulled through a cable duct yet would be too bulky with the plug. Field assemblies are beneficial, says Yamaichi, even if the exact cable length cannot be defined in advance.
The connector face complies with the standardised M12 X coding according to DIN EN 61076-2-109. The die-cast zinc housing enables the Y-Circ M CAT.6A field assembly connector to provide optimal transmission characteristics even in demanding environments. When plugged in, it reaches protection class of IP67.
The slim design makes it suitable for space-critical installations. The assembly is quick and easy, says Yamaichi. The cable is stripped and the wires of the cable pressed into the colour-coded slots in the back of the two-piece connector. After the protruding wires are cut off, the IDC insulation displacement contacts connect automatically when the two parts are screwed together.
