Miniature DC/DC converters have up to 6,000V isolation for industrial applications
Flex Power Modules has introduced the PUA-A, PUC-B and PUB-M families of miniature DC/DC converters for industrial applications. They are characterised by requiring no minimum load and isolation voltages of up to 6,000V.
The PUA-A, PUC-B and PUB-M isolating converters all provide output power of up to 1W, with no minimum load required. Efficiency is typically 84 per cent (PUA-A), 80 per cent (PUC-B) and 81 per cent (PUB-M) at full load. Input-to-output isolation voltage is 2,000V (PUA-A), 6,000V (PUC-B) and 3,000V (PUB-M).
The converters are reliable and rugged, says Flex Power, for the harsh environments found in industrial applications. They have a mean time between failure (MTBF) of 17.9 million hours (Mh) for the PUB-M, 15 million hours for the PUC-B and 13.1 million hours for the PUA-A.
The converters have a wide operating temperature range of -40 to +100 degrees C (PUA-A and PUC-B) and -40 to +110 degrees C (PUB-M). They include output short-circuit protection.
The PUA-A is offered in an industry standard SIP4 device, measuring 11.5 x 6 x 10mm (0.45 x 0.23 x 0.36 inches). The PUC-B is housed in an industry standard SIP7 package, measuring 19.7 x 7.1 x 11.5mm (0.78 x 0.28 x 0.45 inches) and the PUB-M is a surface-mount device (SMD) with dimensions of 12.75 x 11.2 x 6.6mm (0.5 x 0.441 x 0.26 inches) for the single-output variant and 15.25 x 11.2 x 6.6mm (0.6 x 0.441 x 0.26 inches) for the dual-output version.
All of the devices comply to EN/UL 62368-1. Flex Power Modules is certified to ISO 9001/14001.
