MOSFET relay claims to be world’s smallest
Believed to be the world’s smallest MOSFET relay, the G3VM-31QR has a footprint of just 2.9mm², yet it is capable of handling 1.5A, says Omron.
It is 17 per cent smaller than alternative devices, says the company, to achieve minimum PCB size in test and communications equipment and for other applications, says the company.
The S-VSON device has overall dimensions of 2.0 x 1.65 x 1.45mm achieved using a three-stack chip on chip structure.
The G3VM-31QR is also claimed to enhance performance compared to alternate solutions in its class. For example, on-resistance is just 0.10Ohms. Despite its small size, it can handle a continuous load current of 1.5A at 30V AC or DC and offers a wide temperature range of -40 to 110 degrees C. Dielectric strength is 500V between input and output, described by the company as exceptional for such a tiny device.
