MOSFET’s low power operation focuses on LED lighting
Designed for low power SMPS applications, the 800V CoolMOS P7 can be used in flyback topologies which are typically found in applications like adapter, LED lighting, audio, industrial and auxiliary power.
Based on Infineon’s superjunction technology, the MOSFETs offer up to 0.6 per cent efficiency gain. This translates into two to eight degree C lower MOSFET temperature, compared to the CoolMOS C3 or to competitor parts tested in typical flyback applications, claims the company.
The integrated Zener diode improves ESD ruggedness, reducing ESD related production yield losses. The MOSFET is easy to drive and to design-in, says the company, due to its industry leading V(GS)th of 3V and the smallest VGS(th) variation of only ±0.5V. This combination lowers driving voltage and switching losses, while helping to avoid unintentional operation in the linear region.
The MOSFETs will be available in 12 R DS(on) classes and in six packages. Products with R DS(on) of 280, 450, 1,400 and 4,500mOhm can be ordered now.
