Online engine prototypes lighting and motor control
Believed to be the first online prototyping engine, Infineon Designer, combines analogue and digital simulation functionalities in an internet application. It uses a web browser to support customers to select the right product for a defined application, says the company. It works intuitively in a very short time, says the company, and neither installation nor licenses are needed.
Application circuits for industrial power, lighting, motor control and mobile/RF front end design are included. The tool enables analogue/digital co-simulation of the 32bit XMC1000 ARM Cortex-M0 industrial microcontroller series, using the free-of-charge code generation platform DAVE. The digital prototyping engine allows for prototyping a “soft” evaluation board with all functional parameters. In an early stage, hardware for testing and iterations can be saved.
The prototyping tool is based on the TINACloud environment from DesignSoft. TINACloud is the online version of the TINA circuit simulation software running on multiple platforms such as PC, laptop, mobile, and tablets. Analogue circuits are modeled in SPICE and can be co-simulated with digital systems using hardware description languages such as VHDL and Verilog or C language. The front end supports multiple languages.
The engine can be accessed following its launch at electronica next month (8 November 2016).
