Operation terminals for remote access support virtual networking computing

Two additional graphic operation terminals (GOT) have been added to Mitsubishi Electric’s GOT Simple series. The seven and 10-inch widescreen models support virtual network computing (VNC) and can be used as VNC servers enabling remote access from remote locations.

This feature will help meet customers’ needs for improved work efficiencies when performing monitoring and maintenance in factories, buildings, utilities and other automation applications.

The latest models to the GOT Simple series have a 1.5-times increase in onboard memory capacity, now 15Mbyte, making it easier to save more screen designs. An SDHC memory card allows operation logs to be recorded in chronological order to achieve enhanced traceability. This can be useful for validating operations as well as troubleshooting when identifying incorrect operation or the potential root causes of problems.

They also support outline fonts, offering clearer visibility of text on the screen by smoothing out edges of textual characters. This increased clarity can help prevent the screen being mis-read and can also aid reading at a distance.

Mitsubishi Electric has enhanced the built-in interfaces for these new models. In addition to the standard GOT Simple series interfaces of Ethernet, RS-232 and RS-422, the two additions also offer RS-485 support. This facilitates the connection of a wider variety of devices such as temperature controllers and MODBUS peripherals, making it easier for users to implement connected-digital manufacturing strategies in their operations.

With 100 years of experience, Mitsubishi Electric manufactures and sells electrical and electronic equipment used in information processing and communications, space development and satellite communications, consumer electronics, industrial technology, energy, transportation and building equipment.

The Mitsubishi Electric Factory Automation business group offers a range of automation and processing technologies, including controllers, drive products, power distribution and control products, electrical discharge machines, laser processing machines, computerised numerical controllers and industrial robots. As well as higher productivity on the factory floor, its service networks provide direct communication and comprehensive support to customers around the globe.

Mitsubishi Electric Europe has its European headquarters in Ratingen near Dusseldorf, Germany. It is a part of Mitsubishi Electric Europe, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric.
