Panasonic Industry targets ESR performance with KX capacitor series
The SP-Cap portfolio of capacitors has been extended by Panasonic Industry with the introduction of the KX series which is temperature resistant for up to 5,500 hours at 125 degrees C.
The SP-cap aluminium polymer capacitors are based on Panasonic’s Solid Polymer technology and designed for applications where low ESR is a primary consideration, says Panasonic Industry.
They are an alternative to multi-layer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) and pure tantalum capacitors, says the company. They require less parts and less space on the PCB and provide better performance, especially for modern and complex low-profile electronical devices, with large capacitance up to 820 microF and a ripple current up to 10.2A rms.
Panasonic Industry has expanded the technology with the introduction of the KX series, describing it as a very high endurance and particularly heat tolerant series.
Typical ESR is just 9.0 mOhm, the capacitors have a low profile, long life span and high characteristic stability, in particular an endurance figure of 5,500 hours at 125 degrees C for reliable operation.
The KX series also has damp heat specifications of 1,000 hours at 85 degrees C 85 per cent RH, making it suitable for demanding outdoor applications.
As a result, the KX series of capacitors can be specified for noise reduction or voltage smoothing in base stations, networks, servers, accelerators and industrial equipment.
