Panasonic launches ZE series of hybrid capacitors: The ZE series of hybrid capacitors optimise designs for performance, cost low leakage current, long life, low ESR (equivalent series resistance) values, says Panasonic Automotive & Industrial Systems Europe.

The ZE hybrid capacitors combine the advantages of electrolytic capacitors with those of solid polymer capacitors, says Panasonic, and are reliable for use in automotive and industrial applications. Hybrid technology offers low leakage current and long life in combination with low ESR (20mΩ) in miniature case sizes.

Panasonic’s EEH-ZE series (Type V-ZE) hybrid aluminium electrolytic capacitors are high-temperature capacitors that have an endurance of 2,000 hours at 145 degree C. The surface-mount conductive polymer hybrid components offer a nominal capacitance range of 33 to 330-microF, at voltage ranges from 25 to 63V DC, and feature an operating temperature range of -55 to +145 degree C, as well as  low ESR and high ripple current. The products are AEC-Q200 compliant,  can endure high humidity conditions rated at 85 degree C/90 per cent – 2,000h while offering tiered ripple current ratings at 135 and 145 degree C.

Application areas are I/O (input/output) filtering in power converters and voltage regulators, power and battery decoupling and clock circuitry. The endurance and low ESR make them suitable for use in automotive applications, servers, basestations and industrial PCs. They are also small enough for wireless and IoT designs.
