Photocoupler trio reduce board space for industrial automation

Three photocouplers have been added to the RV1S92xxA family available from Renesas Electronics. The photocouplers, in an LSSO5 package, have a creepage of 8.2mm and measure 2.5 x 2.1mm, with a 0.65mm pin pitch. Renesas says that they are the world’s smallest optical isolated IGBT drivers and intelligent power module (IPM) driver reduce PCB mounting areas by up to 35 per cent compared with other devices on the market.

The RV1S9231A 2.5A output and RV1S9207A 0.6A output IGBT drivers and RV1S9209A active high output IPM driver deliver 5,000V rms isolation voltage, and support high temperature operation up to 125 degrees C to withstand the harsh operating environments. They also support 200 and 400V systems with reinforced insulation to meet stringent industrial safety standards, adhering to the strict UL61800-5-1 standards for motor drive equipment.

The photocouplers can be used in AC drives and GP inverters to reduce the size of industrial equipment and inverter systems that meet the UL61800-5-1 standard.

The RV1S9209A, RV1S9231A, and RV1S9207A photocouplers are available now from Renesas’ worldwide distributors.

Renesas Electronics delivers semiconductors which enable billions of connected, intelligent devices to enhance the way people work and live. Its portfolio includes microcontrollers, analogue, power, and SoC products, for a range of automotive, industrial, Infrastructure, and IoT applications.
