PICMG 1.3 SBC meets performance goals, says Portwell

High computing performance and flexible expansion capabilities are offered with the ROBO-8115VG2AR, a full size shingle host board (SHB) computer from Portwell. It can be used for demanding applications in industrial automation and intelligent control systems, medical/healthcare imaging systems, automated test equipment, semiconductor equipment, display wall / digital signage, digital security surveillance, broadcasting systems, transportation and storage.

The PICMG 1.3SHB computer features the latest 10th Generation Intel Xeon W family processors or Core i3 / i5 / i7 / i9 / Pentium / Celeron up to 10 cores / 20 threads and 4.8GHz (35 to 95W) (Comet Lake platform) in an LGA 1200 socket with Intel W480E or Q470E chipset.

The ROBO-8115VG2AR SBC supports Intel Turbo Boost, Hyper-Threading, virtualisation, thermal monitoring, Trusted Execution (TXT) and SpeedStep technology (depending on the processor). It delivers up to 128Gbyte dual-channel error code correction (ECC) / non-ECC DDR4 2666 SDRAM on four Long-DIMM sockets. It also offers flexible PCI Express Gen 3 (up to 8.0 Gtransfers per second) from CPU, one PCIe x16 or two PCIe x8 or one PCIe x8 and two PCIe x4 adjusted by jumper setting. From the chipset options are one PCIe x4 or four PCIe x1 by different BIOS. For PCI expansion, there are four PCI devices at 32-bit, 33MHz and a total of six USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbits per second), four USB 2.0, five SATA 3.0 (dual ports via backplane), one M.2 Type M 2280 for SSD and software RAID 0,1, 5,10, dual Gigabit Ethernet LAN, two RS-232, two RS-232 / 422 / 485 selectable by BIOS adjustment.

The ROBO-8115VG2AR SBC features an Intel Gen 9 graphic engine that provides significant 3D multimedia performance and supports DirectX 12 and Open GL 4.5. It also supports multiple independent displays such as HDMI (4K resolution), DVI-D (up to 1920×1200) and VGA (up to 1920×1200). Using a DVI-I to DVI-D and VGA Y splitter, a user can connect with DVI-D and VGA monitor simultaneously (available in both clone and extended modes). There is also an ATX power input and supports on board TPM 2.0 for application security.

The ROBO-8115VG2AR’s 10th Generation Intel Xeon W / Core processors mean it offers up to 20 per cent more cores than previous generation processors, up to 31 per cent better multi-tasking performance for compute-intensive applications, and as much as 11 per cent improved performance on single-task compute-intensive applications, said the company.
