Pico Technology enhances oscilloscope software for PicoScope 7

The next generation of oscilloscope software has been announced by Pico Technology. The oscilloscope, RF and data acquisition equipment manufacturer said it has rewritten PicoScope 6 to take advantage of the latest PC and display technologies.

PicoScope 7 has a range of enhanced features and functionality for engineers and technicians looking for precise, reliable, and easy-to-use tools for test and measurement, said Pico Technology. It features a range of intuitive tools that streamline workflows and boost productivity, said the company. These include comprehensive views to visualise deep memory captures in both time and frequency domains. There is touchscreen support for an interactive and immersive experience with advanced triggers to capture anomalies and glitches, said Pico Technology. There are also automated measurements for common waveform parameters and over 30 serial protocol decoders which are available free of charge. These include the latest I3C and CAN XL standards.

Other enhancements are event-driven actions for mask fails and triggers, together with a DeepMeasure function for the analysis of waveform parameters on up to a million cycles with each triggered acquisition.

PicoScope 7 also benefits from advanced math channels, including filters, trigonometry, exponentials, logarithms, statistics, integrals and derivatives. It also has waveform math for real time comparisons with historical peak, averaged or filtered waveforms.

PicoScope 7 is available for Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems. All current PicoScope models, from the entry-level 2000 series through to the high performance 6000E series are supported, as are legacy PicoScope models dating back a decade or more.

The software is free of charge for all PicoScope users.

Trevor Smith, product manager at Pico Technology, commented: “PicoScope 7 has been a multi-year project . . . through the project’s Early Access beta phase, we have collected and acted on a huge amount of constructive feedback from users of the software. We thank all those users for their suggestions and are pleased to reward them with the UI that they asked for”.
