Power modules enable high power density for graphics cards and servers

Power modules released by Alpha and Omega Semiconductor are compliant with Intel’s DrMOS specifications. The AOZ5166QI-01 is housed in a 40pin 6.0 x 6.0mm QFN package that integrates an optimised dual gate driver and two MOSFETs. Together, says the company, they produce a DC/DC synchronous buck power stage. The module enables high power density voltage regulators for servers, work stations, graphic cards and high-end desktop PC applications.

The company’s proprietary trench MOSFET and packaging technologies are used to improve efficiency and thermal performance over the previous generation, says the company. The low RDS(ON) of low-side MOSFET combined with the low Qg high-side MOSFET achieves an optimal balance between switching and conduction losses to increase overall efficiency by one per cent.
