Receivers prepare for next-gen communications

High-speed RS-485/RS-422 receivers accommodate the demands of next- generation, high-speed serial communications designs, claims Exar. The XR33180, XR33181, XR33183, and XR33184 have a 3.0 x 3.0mm footprint. They have data rates of 52Mbit/s data rates, fast 15ns propagation delay and 2ns maximum receiver skew. Target applications are multi-drop clock distribution, telecomms networking, robotic control, process automation and LAN applications.

The receivers operate from either a 3.3 or 5.0V supply and are available in five- and 6pin TSOT23 packages, designed for high-speed point-to-point RS-485 applications where space is constrained. The XR33184 includes a low voltage logic pin that eliminates the need for a level shifter when interfacing to MCUs or FPGAs that run from lower supply voltages.

Features include enhanced ESD protection (±15kV) on the receiver inputs, a logic supply pin, true fail-safe circuitry and enhanced receiver failsafe protection. All exceed the highest ESD rating of IEC 61000-4-2 and operate over an extended temperature range of -40 to +125 degree C.

The devices are available now in RoHS-compliant TSOT23-5 and TSOT23-6 packages.
