Recom RAC150-G switched-mode power supply is for high density applications
Delivered in a compact, 2.0 x 4.0inch or 50 x 100mm, package, the Recom RAC150-G series switched-mode power supplies (SMPS) are designed for high power-density in applications which operate with limited airflow.
Under natural convection, the SMPS modules provide 125W from the compact open-frame design and up to 122W in an aluminium case. Under forced air cooling, a constant output of up to 150W is achieved. According to the company, ensuring long service life and reliability at such a high power density presented a number of design challenges, such as placing the surface mount semiconductors on the board in such a way as to dissipate excess heat through copper surfaces acting as heatsinks on the board and through an aluminium base plate via heat-conducting pads.
The RAC150-G power supplies operate at input voltages between 90 and 264V AC at temperatures ranging from -30 to +70 degree C. Modules with 12, 24, and 48V outputs are currently available for shipping. The modules have short-circuit as well as over-voltage protection and a typical efficiency of 91 per cent.
These SMPS modules are suitable for use around the world, and are certified according to IEC/EN/UL 60950-1 as well as the new IEC/EN/UL62368-1 standard. They also comply with the RoHS directive and EN55022/24 Class B for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The modules have a three-year guarantee. Samples are available via RECOM’s broad network of distribution channels.
Recom Power supplies a range of DC/DC and AC/DC converters in every power class up to 480W, switching regulators and LED drivers. Recom is headquartered in Gmunden, Austria, and operates a logistics centre and laboratory wing there.
