Richardson RFPD introduces driver amplifier from Macom
Operating at 0.1 to 3.0GHz, a two-stage amplifier from Macom Technology Solutions has typical gain of 23dB and up to 40 per cent power added efficiency. The MAAP-011232 is now available from Richardson RFPD, which offers design support capabilities for the 1W driver amplifier.
The two-stage device has gain shut-off. It operates from 100MHz to 3.0GHz. No I/O matching is needed for operation in the 100MHz to 1.0GHz frequency range. Internal DC blocking is provided at the input, while the RF output port is DC-coupled through an external bias-tee.
Bias current, RF gain and output power are controlled with a gate supply voltage. Typical current consumption is less than 300mA at maximum output power. The amplifier is fabricated using a high breakdown GaAs process that features full passivation for increased performance and reliability, says the company. Typical applications are land mobile radio, military communications, sensors and telemetry, test and measurement, and satellite communications.
